On Saturday, August 27 at 10am we'll gather at the beautiful Raccoon River Park Nature Lodge in West Des Moines for our "Summer Leadership Summit." We'll gather to reground ourselves in our organizing roots and the work ahead.
The recent decisions handed down by the U.S. Supreme Court, actions across the country aimed at stifling protest and dissent, and more can feel deflating. But these measures are the result of a decades-long agenda by corporate elites and the conservative right to consolidate power through stepping-stone victories and learning from their defeats.
It's time for us to get as determined and committed to our long-term agenda.
And that's what we'll dig-in to at our Summer Leadership Summit. We'll:
- reconnect with members from across the state,
- hear from new People's Action Executive Director Sulma Arias on our organizing revival to get back to basics and meet people where they're at, and
- begin mapping out the steps we'll take to build the power needed to win an Iowa that's inclusive of all our communities and puts people before corporations and the select few.

WHAT IS THE COVID POLICY?
All participants who attend in person will be asked to submit a photo of a negative Covid test from the night before or morning of the event. We will provide masks and hand sanitizer on-site for those who wish to use them. Should you need a rapid test let us know and we can mail you one. The inside area will be reasonably situated to maximize safety. We will continue to monitor the COVID situation and plan mitigation efforts accordingly. Please let us know if you have any questions.
