I am contacting you to publicly say NO to the use of eminent domain for hazardous liquid pipelines like the proposed CO2 pipelines. These projects use unproven technology that isn’t an effective way to reduce carbon emissions. They will take billions in public tax dollars to enrich private corporations and put Iowans in danger. When CO2 ruptures inevitably happen, our first responders are not trained, nor do they have the expensive equipment required to respond. Lastly, eminent domain takes away local control and a democratic process to decide what happens in our community. This is especially concerning when the people who stand to profit from these pipelines have deep ties to the Iowa Utility Board members themselves.
