Dear Michael Regan of the EPA,
We are writing on behalf of Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement (Iowa CCI), a statewide community organization working to put People and Planet First to invite you to Iowa for a meeting about factory farms and water quality.
Iowa is home to over 10,000 factory farms that contribute to the over 750 impaired waterways. CCI members would like to meet with you to share the impacts of this industry on rural communities’ water and environment. As well as get updated on the EPA's work to hold factory farms accountable for water pollution.
We are hoping to set up this meeting in May or June of 2024. We think that it is important to continue to uplift the stories of folks most impacted by this industry with the national EPA.
We have appreciated the willingness of region 7 staff to meet with CCI members and would like to welcome the National EPA for the first time. Please let us know if you have date(s) and time(s) available during the months of May or June, 2024, by contacting caitlin@iowacci.org. Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Members of Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement
