3.5.24 Mitchell BOS meeting to adopt an Ordinance for CO2 Pipelines

Registration is closed for this event
Join us on March 5th at 8:30 am at the Mitchell County Courthouse as we ask them to pursue a county ordinance to protect our communities from the Co2 pipelines!

The board of supervisors have the power to create and pass an ordiance to address citizen concerns about dangerous CO2 pipelines. Things like increased separation distances from home, buissnesses, livestock, and areas of environmental concern, and costs paid to the county for every road, stream, bridge, and/or train track they would cross with the pipeline. There are many different ways that the county supervisors can adapt the ordinace to fit the needs of Mitchell County residents. But the supervisors are afraid to start the process because Summit has sued other counties in the state for items in their ordinaces. The ordinance can always be ameneded, and they can withdraw and start again with a new ordinace if needed. There are ways to work through this as other counties are navigating their lawsuits. We need to start somewhere, and we need the Board of Supervisors to use their power to put protections in place for the people and places we love.
