Tell Elected Officials to Return Shady Farm Bureau Money

Farm Bureau Financial Services (FBFS) has been accused of covering up systemic fraud for more than a decade. Two former Farm Bureau investigators were fired after saying they would submit reports of suspected fraud to regulators, as required by law, even though their superior objected. They are now suing for wrongful termination and allege FBFS passed the cost of fraudulent claims to customers through higher premiums.

The Iowa Farm Bureau is the majority owner of Farm Bureau Financial Services. The Iowa Farm Bureau Federation Political Action Committee has donated $1.4 million to Iowa candidates and campaigns in the last four election cycles, according to the Iowa Ethics Campaign Disclosure Board. The majority of those contributions went to state legislative candidates.

To the everyday Iowan, it sure seems like Farm Bureau used money it obtained through unscrupulous practices to finance our legislative candidates’ political campaigns.  Iowans shouldn’t have to wonder whether or not our elected officials are controlled by big-monied special interests, especially corporate giants accused of fraud and racketeering.  Add your name to call on any and all lawmakers who receive Farm Bureau Federation PAC money to distance themselves from this mess and send the donation back.
