, I hope you and your loved ones stayed cool over the weekend, where cities across the country experienced record-breaking heat. On Saturday near Waukee, the heat caused a section of Interstate 80 to buckle.
Thankfully it cooled off a bit on Sunday, when I headed over to Newton for the IndyCar race at the Iowa Speedway. Anytime I watch auto racing, I'm reminded of the phrase that politicians should dress like race car drivers so we know who their sponsors are.
Politicians like Kim Reynolds, who has appointed every current member of the Iowa Board of Regents. Her most recent appointment, J.C. Risewick, barely did his homework by submitting a bare-bones application. But he did give her almost $60,000 in campaign donations over the past two years.
Gov. Reynolds is up for election this November. Racial justice, climate justice, healthcare justice, reproductive justice and more will be on the ballot.
We've got work to do,
