I'm writing to encourage you to support House File 565 to help prevent the use of eminent domain for the proposed CO2 pipelines. These pipeline projects use unproven technology that isn’t an effective way to reduce carbon emissions. Even worse, they will take billions in public tax dollars to enrich private corporations and put Iowans in danger. When CO2 ruptures inevitably happen, our first responders are not trained, nor do they have the expensive equipment required to respond. Eminent domain, as proposed by companies like Summit Carbon Solutions, takes away local control and a democratic process to decide what happens in our community. That's why HF 565 is needed to ensure landowners are treated with respect and the safety of Iowans and our land is not jeopardized for a wealthy select few. Will you vote yes on HF 565?
